ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT

ABOUT DEPARTMENT :

The department is established in 1973. The subject is taught in combination with History, Political Science and Computer Applications.

There are two regular posts and both are filled. In addition there is one Redeployed lecturer. All the staff possesses research degrees. The Student-Teacher ratio is 80:1.

There is one Computer with internet facility. There are 30 books in the Departmental Library.

Activities

Regular Guest Lectures are organized by eminent faculty from YVU, Kadapa.
Regular field visits
Visit to Commercial bank
Visit to Industrial Estate
Surveys on Socio-economic conditions of rural women.
Teaching Methods-Lecture Method, Interaction sessions, ICT oriented teaching
Co-curricular Activities-Student Seminars, Group Discussions, Assignments, Debates, Slip Tests, Unit Tests.
Social Extension Activities-The department organized “Anna Datha Sukhebhava” – Student volunteers collect handful of
            rice from neighborhood residential locality. The collected rice is donated to orphanages and destitute homes. This
            activity inspires the students to participate in Community service.
Extra-curricular Activities-Students are encouraged to participate in NCC, NSS, RRC, Eco-club, Legal Literacy club
          etc.
Academic Competitions-Quiz Programme, Cards Game, role play, proficiency prize in Economics on the basis of
            House Examinations.

Students progression to Higher studies-25%
Kum. Sachi Devi secured highest marks in Economics and received prize in the Academic Festival, 2011-12.
